Miniature Louis XVI Mahogany, Bronze & Marble Commode Books - ReligionA miniature Louis XVI mahogany, bronze and marble commode, c. 1800. The white carrara marble top is enclosed by a pierced gilt bronze three quarter gallery, above three full length drawers flanked by fluted pilasters, delicately inset with brass, with a decorative brass panel depicting vine leaves and grapes to the top of each. A bronze moulding surrounds both the base of the first drawer and toupie feet. The sides of the chest are equally detailed,

The top has a blemish to the right and there is some gapping between the side and back panels in places (please see photographs)

The collection includes:

Stamps present to bow ties and rim of neck but illegible

Both panels are exceptional in form and colour with the original hand blown glass and lead lining remaining in an excellent condition throughout both pieces

Volume I printed in 1858 and Volume II printed in 1859

The angle-poise has various knocks and repairs from its years of use

Weight (bronze and plinth combined): 12 kilograms

The box is opened by a push button mechanism which functions perfectly

but generally the volume remains very attractive
