The flower and root bulb designs were hand painted with dye to achieve a shaded, painterly look, and the common and Latin names were waxed. After a final wash and etch, the background on the design faces was carefully dyed and shaded to look like an antique botanical journal, complete with paper staining and smudges. Finished in UV resistant
